Latrobe Regional Health in Gippsland is seeking a Clinical Nurse Educator – Theatre to lead education programs in the operating theatre. This part-time (0.8 EFT), ongoing role focuses on building workforce capability, mentoring staff, and ensuring safe, high‑quality patient care.

Work with theatre leadership and multidisciplinary teams to develop, deliver and evaluate education, monitor mandatory training, support credentialing and contribute to continuous quality improvement aligned with NSQHS

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration and postgraduate qualifications.
• Minimum of five years post‑registration experience in perioperative or high‑acuity settings.
• Experience as an educator, mentor or preceptor.
• Strong understanding of nursing competency standards, patient safety and accreditation requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate, deliver and evaluate education programs for the Operating Theatre.
• Provide clinical education, mentoring and professional support to staff and students.
• Monitor compliance with mandatory training and address workforce education needs.
• Assess staff competency and contribute to credentialing and orientation programs.
• Contribute to policies, procedures and educational resources aligned with NSQHS and organisational requirements.

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Clinical Nurse Educator – Theatre to join our Education and Training team. Working closely with Theatre leadership and multidisciplinary clinical teams, you will lead the development, delivery, and evaluation of education programs that support excellence in perioperative practice. This role focuses on building workforce capability through training, competency assessment, clinical support, and mentoring, ensuring staff are equipped to deliver safe, high-quality patient care within the operating theatre environment.

The role of the Clinical Nurse Educator - Theatre is to:

• Develop, coordinate, deliver, and evaluate education and training programs that support best practice within the Operating Theatre.
• Provide clinical education, mentoring, and professional support to nursing staff, students, and other healthcare professionals to enhance knowledge, skills, and clinical competence.
• Monitor compliance with mandatory training requirements and collaborate with clinical teams to address workforce education needs and professional development opportunities.
• Assess and support staff competency, contributing to clinical credentialing, orientation programs, and ongoing workforce development initiatives.
• Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of policies, procedures, and educational resources that align with evidence‑based practice, NSQHS standards, and organisational requirements.
• Support continuous quality improvement activities through the evaluation of education outcomes, workforce capability, and clinical practice standards.

About you

• Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration, relevant postgraduate qualifications, and demonstrated expertise in perioperative or high‑acuity clinical settings.
• Extensive clinical experience, including a minimum of five years post‑registration experience and a strong understanding of contemporary perioperative nursing practice.
• Experienced educator, mentor, or preceptor with a passion for developing others and enhancing clinical excellence.
• Strong understanding of nursing competency standards, patient safety principles, accreditation requirements, and evidence‑based practice.
• Excellent communication, coaching, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
• Committed to continuous learning, professional development, and fostering a positive learning culture that supports safe, high‑quality patient care.
