Job summary

NSW Health at Royal North Shore Hospital seeks a clinical coder to translate narratives of diseases and procedures into ICD-10-AM/ACHI codes and assign DRGs within NSW Health timeframes.

Completion of HIMAA/OTEN coding course or relevant health information management qualification is required, with demonstrated tertiary-hospital coding experience using ICD-10-AM/ACHI and 3M Codefinder. The role emphasizes accuracy, throughput, and KPI achievement.

Qualifications

• Completion of HIMAA/OTEN coding course or relevant tertiary qualifications in Health Information Management.
• Demonstrated coding experience in a tertiary hospital using ICD-10-AM/ACHI and 3M Codefinder across a range of specialties with a proven knowledge and understanding of Australian Coding Standards and DRGs.
• Demonstrated ability to monitor and consistently meet coding throughput and quality KPIs.

Responsibilities

• The primary responsibility is the accurate translation of narrative descriptions of diseases, injuries and procedures into alphanumeric codes using ICD-10-AM/ACHI and the correct assignment of DRGs within the NSW Health and Northern Sydney Local Health District timeframes.
• Possibly collaborate with clinical teams to ensure coding accuracy and timeliness.
• Demonstrated ability to monitor coding throughput and quality KPIs.

What you'll be doing
