Job summary

Queensland Health Brisbane North is seeking a Clinical Assistant to support the CSR in a busy specimen reception unit. You will learn pre-analytical processes and work with clinicians and laboratory staff to ensure accurate sample handling.

The role emphasises data entry accuracy, safe workload management, teamwork, and adherence to quality systems and accreditation standards. Candidates should demonstrate initiative and effective communication in a supportive public health environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in or ability to rapidly learn pre-analytical process in a large and complex specimen reception unit.
• Demonstrated data entry skills with the ability to work accurately and give attention to detail.
• Ability to efficiently prioritise workloads, show initiative, problem solve and work effectively without direct supervision.
• Proven ability to work effectively as a member of a team and to communicate effectively with clients, clinical staff and colleagues.
• Understanding of and commitment to laboratory quality systems and the requirements of NATA accreditation and ISO certification.
• Awareness of the human resource management policies applicable to contemporary workplaces.
• Demonstrate a high level of commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement.
