Job description

Paediatric Speech Pathologist – 2+ Years Experience
A note from us

We’re a growing paediatric clinic in Mount Waverley, and we’re building it with real intention. We know clinician burnout is real, and a lot of it comes down to things that are actually fixable: not enough breathing room in the day, too much time on the road, and not enough connection with the people you work alongside.

So that’s what we’ve focused on. Most of our work happens in the clinic, so your energy goes into meaningful clinical work, not traffic.

Our practice is strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed. We value cultural and linguistic diversity, work with families from a wide range of backgrounds, and recognise how culture shapes communication, learning and family life.

About the role

We’re looking for an experienced paediatric speech pathologist to join us permanently (subject to probation). Part-time at least 3 days per week, or full-time preferred. Full-time includes half a day per week working from home.

Key responsibilities
  • Manage a paediatric caseload (preschool to secondary) across speech, language, literacy, stuttering, autism and neurodivergent support, and AAC
  • Conduct assessments and deliver evidence-based intervention
  • Develop and implement individualised therapy plans
  • Work mainly from our clinic, with short local visits to schools, kinders and the community
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with professional standards
  • Collaborate with families, educators and allied health professionals
Why join us?
  • A varied caseload of private and self-/plan-managed NDIS clients, with flexibility to develop the clinical areas that interest you
  • Short, local travel. Most of your week is in the clinic, and community, school and kinder visits are close by, typically under 15 minutes each way
  • Hybrid flexibility. Full-time clinicians get half a day per week working from home for reports, planning and admin
  • Wellbeing that’s built in. Balanced caseloads with protected time for documentation, preparation and PD, so you’re not catching up after hours
  • Interdisciplinary work. An in-house OT, plus collaboration with local paediatricians on autism assessments
  • A team that actually connects. Regular catch-ups, shared lunches and a genuine open-door culture
  • Room to grow. Regular case discussion with a senior speech pathologist, the chance to mentor our new-graduate clinician, and pathways into supervision, leadership or a specialist interest
  • An unbeatable location. A short walk from Mount Waverley station, in the middle of the village with cafes and food on your doorstep
  • Remuneration: $90,000–$120,000 pro rata + super, depending on experience, plus a performance bonus and a $2,000 annual PD allowance
About you
  • Minimum 2–3 years’ paediatric speech pathology experience
  • Confident running your own caseload, from assessment through to reporting and intervention
  • Organised, with strong written communication and time management skills
  • Curious and compassionate, and you value teamwork as much as independence
  • Committed to neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based practice
Essential requirements
  • Certified Practising Member of Speech Pathology Australia (or eligible)
  • Working with Children Check (Employee), NDIS Worker Screening Check and National Police Check (current, or willing to obtain)
  • Current Victorian driver’s licence
  • Full Australian working rights

Overseas-qualified applicants must hold recognised qualifications and be eligible for SPA membership at the time of application.

If you’re looking for a workplace where clinical quality, genuine team connection and your own wellbeing are all taken seriously, we’d love to hear from you.
