Job description

Tātaki Auckland Unlimited (TAU) is Auckland’s cultural, events and destination agency. It enriches the cultural life and vibrancy of Auckland through events, experiences and taonga (treasures). Its work connects communities, celebrates identity and grows Auckland’s reputation as a world-class place to live, visit and belong.

As a Climate Analyst, you’ll play a pivotal role in advancing Tātaki Auckland Unlimited’s sustainability goals and aligning our mahi with Te Tāruke-ā-Tāwhiri: Auckland’s Climate Plan. You’ll lead the way in emissions reporting and data analysis—particularly expanding Scope 3 emissions measurement—and use insights to strengthen decision-making across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reporting and analysis, including developing and understanding the Scope 3 full-value chain for emissions reporting and target.
  • Coordinate climate data and reporting workstreams, ensuring accurate information for annual disclosures and the Climate & Sustainability Report.
  • Review and enhance processes for climate data analysis, including managing emissions inventories, audits, and scenario assessments.
  • Support strategic planning and capacity-building by clearly communicating climate insights, building organisational understanding, and engaging with internal and external stakeholders.

Exceptional analytical and research capability is core to this role—turning complex climate and emissions data into clear, actionable insights that drive decision-making. Skilled in interpreting data and building stories that inform senior advisors and leaders, the role demands confidence in simplifying technical information for a range of audiences.

Key Job Requirements:
  • Relevant tertiary qualification or 5+ years’ experience in climate, sustainability, environmental science, or data analysis.
  • Proven track record in emissions reporting and greenhouse gas accounting, including Scope 3 and ISO 14064 standards.
  • Advanced Excel and Power BI skills to produce clear, accurate data reports and dashboards that inform strategic action.
  • Strong understanding of climate risk—both physical and transitional—and its impact on business performance.
  • Confident in communicating insights at all levels, with awareness of local government context, equitable climate outcomes, and te ao Māori alignment.

We’re proud to be recognised for our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Tātaki Auckland Unlimited is an equal opportunity employer (EOE) and we are committed to providing a working environment that embraces and values diversity and inclusion.
