Job summary

The Department of Justice is seeking a Cleaning Instructor to operate prison cleaning services, provide on-the-job instruction and accredited training to prisoners, and supervise staff. This permanent, full-time role emphasizes supervisory duties, training delivery and strict safety and compliance standards.

You will lead cleaning programs, ensure audits and inspections are completed, manage stock, and apply WHS guidelines while mentoring a team in a confidential environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum Certificate III or equivalent in cleaning services.
• Experience in commercial cleaning, including audits and budget control.
• Understanding of WHS regulations and forensic cleaning procedures.
• Computer skills: spreadsheets, databases, documents, emails.
• Ability to manage information confidentially.
• Ability to mentor and train prisoners while supervising staff.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and deliver on-the-job instruction and accredited training to prisoners.
• Supervise prisoners and other staff in cleaning operations and scheduling.
• Establish cleaning programs, prepare reports, carry out audits and inspections.
• Maintain stock and equipment and manage resources.
• Ensure WHS compliance and safe work practices.
