Job summary

Gilmour Space is seeking a Cleaning Laboratory Technician to join our aerospace manufacturing team at the Yatala facility, between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. This role focuses on maintaining cleanliness standards and supporting production in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include cleaning aerospace components, verifying cleanliness, maintaining equipment and documentation, and collaborating with engineers on process improvements while upholding safety and quality principles.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or Diploma or equivalent in a laboratory-related field.
• Experience in manufacturing, industrial, chemical or laboratory environments.
• Proficiency with laboratory testing and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning of aerospace components and assemblies per procedures and customer requirements.
• Verify cleanliness requirements through testing, inspection and process monitoring.
• Maintain cleaning equipment, lab instruments and process chemicals.
• Investigate cleanliness-related non-conformances and support improvements.
• Maintain records and ensure quality, safety and environmental compliance.
• Handle and dispose of hazardous materials as approved.
• Collaborate with engineers to document activities.
• Communicate with managers and team members for daily operations.
• Work off-hours during certain build phases as required.
• Assume additional duties as directed by management.

• Perform cleaning of aerospace components and assemblies in accordance with approved procedures and/or customer requirements
• Verify cleanliness requirements through testing, inspection, and process monitoring.
• Maintain cleaning equipment, laboratory instruments, and process chemicals to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Investigate cleanliness-related non-conformances and support corrective actions and process improvements
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with quality, safety, and environmental requirements
• Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in approved manner
• Collaborate with engineers to develop and document activities
• To communicate with all managers and team members to ensure positive working relationships and adherence to the daily operational requirement
• Ability to off-hours work, as necessary, during certain build phases
• Other duties as required by Management

Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Certificate III, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Laboratory Techniques, Chemistry, Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
• Experience working in a manufacturing, industrial, chemical, or laboratory environment
• Demonstrated experience in laboratory testing and analysis
• Strong understanding of quality systems and documentation requirements
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Experience with cleaning chemistry or surface treatment processes
• Experience with laboratory calibration and equipment maintenance
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Sound organisational and time management skills
• Commitment to safety and quality standards, knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems
• Understanding of continuous improvement principles
• Ability to rapidly adapt to changes in direction while working in a fast-paced, challenging work environment.
