Job summary

St Mary’s Cathedral precinct in Sydney is seeking a permanent full-time Cleaner to maintain a welcoming, pristine environment for visitors and parishioners. Reporting to the Services Manager, you will perform cleaning tasks across the precinct, ensure SOP compliance, manage stock levels, and report maintenance needs.

The role requires a minimum of two years of cleaning experience, attention to detail, and the ability to follow simple directions, with WWC clearance preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years relevant experience with knowledge of cleaning practices, supplies and equipment
• High attention to detail
• Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions
• Ability to be adaptable and problem solve
• Demonstrated commitment to the ethos and values of the Catholic Church and its Tradition
• Current Working with Children clearance in NSW
• Current CPR and First Aid certifications (however not essential)

Responsibilities

• Carry out cleaning duties within the precinct as directed by the Service Manager
• Ensure cleaning standards comply with SOPs
• Advise on low stock levels of cleaning equipment and supplies
• Return lost property to Front Office
• Notify Services Manager of deficiencies or repair needs
• Keep up to date on new cleaning methods and products
• Follow directions from Services Manager and General Manager
• Perform other duties as required

St Mary’s Cathedral Precinct (Precinct) is located in Sydney’s CBD and incorporates the Cathedral, Cathedral House, the Crypt, surrounding grounds and associated operations.

St Mary’s Cathedral is currently seeking a candidate to fill the permanent full-time position of Cleaner, to ensure the precinct and all its facilities are clean and highly presentable that is welcoming for visitors, guests and parishioners.

About the Role

Reporting to the Services Manager, the Cleaner will be able to perform the inherent requirements of the job, including those duties outlined below:

• Carrying out cleaning duties within the Precinct nominated by Service Manager
• Ensuring that the cleaning standards comply with the Precincts Standard Operating Procedures
• Advising Service Manager of low stock levels of cleaning equipment, materials and supplies
• Ensuring lost property is handed into Front Office
• Notifying Services Manager of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs
• Maintaining an awareness of new cleaning methods and products
• Adherence to directions provided by Services Manager and General Manager
• Other duties as requested.

About You

The ideal candidate should satisfy the following selection criteria:

• Minimum of two years relevant experience with good knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies and equipment, including environmentally friendly and septic safe products
• High attention to detail
• Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions
• Ability to be adaptable and problem solve
• Demonstrated commitment to the ethos and values of the Catholic Church and its Tradition
• Current Working with Children clearance in NSW
• Current CPR and First Aid certifications (however not essential)
