Job summary

Palm Lake Resort Hervey Bay is seeking a reliable Cleaner / Kitchen Hand to join our team. This full-time role covers daily cleaning and assists with meal service on certain days, ensuring the resort remains clean, presentable and well-organised for residents and visitors.

Ideal candidates have kitchen/catering exposure, strong cleaning standards, and the ability to work independently within a supportive team environment. Australian work rights preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in kitchen, café, or catering preferred.
• Knowledge of food hygiene and safe work practices.
• Keen eye for detail and commitment to cleaning standards.
• Prior cleaning experience, preferably in a commercial environment.
• Ability to work independently and manage a cleaning schedule.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain common areas (pool room, office, gym, clubhouse, library).
• Dust, vacuum, mop, and remove rubbish.
• Ensure toilets and hygiene standards are met.
• Clean windows and kitchen appliances (fridges, ovens, microwaves).
• Tidy kitchen areas and wipe surfaces; load/unload dishwashers.
• Replenish supplies (coffee, tea, consumables).
• Identify hazards and ensure safety in walkways and floors.
• Clean stock and display homes for potential purchasers.
• Weekly tasks: clean light switches, door frames, cobwebs.
• Assist chefs with basic food prep and service.
• Maintain cleanliness across kitchen and dining areas.
• Wash, sanitise, and store dishes and utensils properly.
• Follow food safety guidelines and safety reporting.

Position Details

We're looking for a reliable and committed Cleaner / Kitchen Hand to join our Palm Lake Resort Hervey Bay team, whose attention to detail will ensure our resort remains a clean and enjoyable place for residents and visitors alike. This is a Full-time role, working 38 hours per week across the resort's daily cleaning schedule and also assisting in the preparation of meal service on Tuesday lunch and Thursday evenings. Your work will be essential to ensuring the resort facilities are clean, presentable and organised for resident and visitor use at all times.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and maintaining common areas such as the pool room, office, hairdresser, gym, craft room, clubhouse, and library.
• Dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and rubbish removal.
• Ensuring toilet facilities are cleaned to a hygienic standard.
• Cleaning internal windows and ensuring equipment like refrigerators and microwaves are spotless.
• Tidying kitchen areas, including emptying dishwashers and wiping surfaces.
• Replenishing supplies such as coffee, tea, and other consumables.
• Identifying and eliminating hazards, such as slippery floors or obstacles, to ensure safety.
• Cleaning stock and display homes for potential purchasers.
• Weekly tasks such as cleaning light switches, power points, door frames, and dusting cobwebs.
• Assist chefs/cook with basic food preparation and service.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene across all kitchen and dining areas.
• Wash, sanitise, and store dishes, utensils, and equipment properly.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
• Support stock rotation and assist with receiving and unpacking deliveries.
• Empty rubbish bins and ensure waste is disposed of safely and hygienically.
• Clean food preparation areas, fridges, ovens, and other kitchen equipment.
• Follow workplace health and safety guidelines and report hazards promptly.
