Looking for a job where your work genuinely matters?

At Central Gippsland Health (CGH), our Environmental Services team plays a vital role in keeping our health service clean, safe, comfortable and welcoming for patients, families, visitors and staff.

As an Environmental Services Assistant, you’ll be an important part of the team behind the scenes — helping create an environment where patients can receive the best possible care and where our staff can do their jobs safely.

No previous experience? That’s okay — full training and support will be provided.

Whether you're looking for your first job, a fresh start, a role that fits around your lifestyle, or an opportunity to build experience in a health service, we'd love to hear from you.

When you join CGH, you’ll become part of a friendly and supportive team where what you do makes a difference.

We offer:

  • Multiple opportunities with various tenure options.
  • Full training provided — no previous cleaning experience required.
  • A friendly, inclusive and supportive team environment.
  • The opportunity to develop valuable skills and experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Work that is meaningful and contributes directly to the safety and wellbeing of our community.
  • Salary packaging opportunities .
  • Employee Assistance Program.
  • Social Club.
  • Learning and development opportunities.
  • The opportunity to build a career within a diverse regional health service.

About the role

As an Environmental Services Assistant, you’ll help maintain a high standard of cleanliness across CGH, contributing to a safe and comfortable environment for everyone who enters our facilities.

Your work will be varied and important, and you'll receive the support and training you need to feel confident in your role.

Your day may include:

  • Cleaning patient rooms, treatment areas, furnishings, shared spaces and other facility areas.
  • Making beds and changing and removing bed linen.
  • Completing routine cleaning and spot‑cleaning tasks.
  • Responding to cleaning and service requests.
  • Following established cleaning schedules, infection prevention requirements, standards, policies and procedures.
  • Assisting with patient transport as required.

  • Flexible and happy to work as part of a team.
  • Positive and willing to learn.
  • Committed to helping maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment.

Previous experience in cleaning, housekeeping, hospitality, healthcare or environmental services is desirable but not essential.

Most importantly, we’re looking for the right attitude.

If you take pride in your work, care about helping others and are ready to learn, we can teach you the rest.

Why your work matters

Working in healthcare is about more than what happens at the bedside.

A clean and safe environment helps protect patients, supports infection prevention and creates a more comfortable experience for people who may already be going through a difficult time.

Every clean room, every prepared bed and every job completed to a high standard contributes to the care we provide.

You’ll be part of a team that makes that possible every day.
