Job summary

YMCA Queensland is seeking a reliable Cleaner for the Yarrabilba Community Centre (The Buzz). This part-time role (15 hours per week) requires attention to detail and the ability to work independently to maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for Centre users and visitors.

The ideal candidate will perform scheduled cleaning tasks, restock supplies, and uphold high hygiene standards while coordinating with the Centre Coordinator and team.

• Blue Card required or willing to obtain.
• Relevant National/International Police Checks required or willing to obtain.
• YMCA induction and any required training.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly cleaning duties.
• Clean and maintain toilets, kitchens, offices, floors, windows, surfaces, walls and bins.
• Ensure high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across the centre.
• Follow cleaning schedules, checklists and safety data sheets.
• Use cleaning equipment and products safely and appropriately.
• Restock bathroom and kitchen supplies as required.
• Set up and pack down rooms for programs and events when required.
• Identify and report maintenance issues and hazards.

Our Yarrabilba Community Centre (The Buzz) is looking for a reliable Cleaner to join our team and help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for our Centre users, visitors and the wider community!

This is a part-time position working 15 hours per week, with the roster negotiable for the successful candidate. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, has a strong eye for detail and can confidently manage their allocated cleaning duties independently.

About the role

As a Cleaner, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, hygiene and presentation of the Centre across a range of facilities and spaces.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Completing scheduled daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly cleaning duties.
• Cleaning and maintaining toilets, kitchens, offices, floors, windows, surfaces, walls, mirrors, bins and other allocated areas.
• Ensuring facilities are consistently presented to a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene.
• Following cleaning schedules, checklists, procedures and Safety Data Sheets.
• Using cleaning equipment and products safely and appropriately.
• Restocking bathroom, kitchen and facility supplies as required.
• Setting up and packing down rooms and hire spaces for programs, activities and events when required.
• Identifying and reporting maintenance issues, hazards, damage and equipment faults.
• Completing required cleaning and safety records accurately.
• Working around Centre bookings and activities to ensure cleaning is completed efficiently.
• Providing friendly and professional service to Centre users, visitors and the wider community.

About you

We’re looking for someone who is:

• Reliable, organised and punctual.
• Comfortable working independently and managing their time effectively.
• Detail-oriented and committed to high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
• Able to follow instructions, cleaning schedules and established procedures.
• Confident using cleaning equipment and products safely.
• Comfortable receiving feedback and making adjustments where required.
• Able to communicate appropriately with the Centre Coordinator and other team members.
• Physically capable of completing the requirements of the role,
• Previous experience in commercial cleaning, community facilities or a similar environment is desirable, but not essential.

You will need to:

• Possess, or be willing to obtain, a current Positive Notice Blue Card, as required for the role.
• Possess, or be willing to obtain, the relevant National and/or International Police Checks, as required.
• Complete YMCA induction and any required training.
• Demonstrate a commitment to workplace health and safety and maintaining a respectful, inclusive environment.
