Job summary

Futures Academy by Y Schools Queensland, Ipswich Campus, is seeking a passionate Classroom Youth Worker to join our new school community. You will support young people who need a different approach to education within a small multidisciplinary team.

As the Classroom Youth Worker, you will help students realise their potential, communicate effectively with diverse families, and apply strengths-based, non-judgmental approaches to foster growth and belonging on campus.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV or higher in Youth Work or a related field.
• Positive Notice Blue Card or willingness to obtain one.
• Ability to communicate with young people and families from diverse backgrounds.
• Experience with behaviour management to maintain a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate delivery of pastoral care and the wellbeing program to meet attendance targets.
• Plan and lead wellbeing programs for students.
• Support delivery of vocational training for students.
• Assist in delivering campus programs, services and events.
• Build relationships with students to support strengths and needs.
• Provide case management in line with school policies.

Futures Academy by Y Schools Queensland, Ipswich Campus (subject to NSSAB accreditation), is seeking a passionate Youth Worker (Classroom) to join our new school community. This is an opportunity to be part of a small, multidisciplinary team supporting young people who need a different approach to education.

As the Classroom Youth Worker with the Y Futures Academy, you will be responsible for assisting young people in understanding their full potential, regardless of their background or individual circumstances. You will thrive in the knowledge that your guidance can impact young people to recognise their true value in a holistic sense and gain fulfilment from seeing them grow into young, empowered adults.

What will my time look like?

• Coordinate the delivery of the school’s pastoral care and community development program so that student wellbeing needs, and attendance targets are met
• Plan and lead wellbeing programs to students
• Support the delivery of vocational training programs offered to students
• Assist in delivering associated programs, services and events offered to young people through the operation of the campus
• Form intentional relationships with young people so that their strengths, passions, interests and unmet needs can be supported appropriately through the operation of the school
• Support and case management of identified students in line with school policies and practice

Am I a good match?

• Hold a Certificate IV or above in Youth Work, Community Services or other relevant qualification
• Hold a Positive Notice Blue Card, or be willing to obtain
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with young people including the ability to communicate appropriately with young people and their families from diverse cultural backgrounds
• Demonstrated ability to plan and apply appropriate behaviour management strategies that contribute to the establishment and maintenance of a supportive environment
• Ability and commitment to working with young people using the Strengths Approach and ability to demonstrate non-judgmental, empathic framework
• Be able to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
