Looking for a teaching role that truly supports you?

We're growing! In January 2027, Y Community School opens its doors to a brand-new junior campus for year 7-9 students, and we want you to help us build it.

At Y Community School, we’ve created an environment where our teachers can thrive, professionally and personally. Whether you’re a primary or secondary teacher, if you’re ready for a different kind of teaching experience — one built on connection, flexibility and purpose — we’d love to hear from you.

About Y Community School

We are an independent school focused on re-engaging young people who have become disengaged in mainstream education, supporting them to build the skills and confidence to reach their goals and create meaningful futures. Established in 2024, our senior campus in Epping provides a safe, inclusive space where students can thrive. And we’re growing, with a junior campus set to open in 2027. Built on the pillars of wellbeing, academic growth and vocational opportunity, our Y program is founded on evidence, experience and a student led approach.

Our Teachers Matter

We recognise that our impact is driven by our teachers and deeply value the expertise, care, and commitment they bring to shaping each student’s journey. We’re committed to support you, through:

  • A collaborative team and responsive leadership that genuinely value your voice and ideas.
  • Smaller class sizes, giving you the time and space to build meaningful connections with students and focus on growth and wellbeing.
  • Prioritised staff wellbeing, including flexible work arrangements, shorter school days, and fewer meetings — because we know balance makes better teachers.
  • Career Development and growth opportunities to support a rewarding, sustainable career in education.

We also offer great staff benefits, including:

  • Up to $15,900 in tax-free salary packaging each year + additional package options to boost your take-home pay
  • Staff discounts on everyday expenses like shopping, gift cards and more through our employee benefits program
  • Free on-site gym access
  • Free on-site parking
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for you and your immediate family

This is a full-time teaching position commencing Term 1, 2027. Screening and interviews will begin as applications are received.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in education (primary or secondary)
  • Current VIT Registration as a classroom teacher.
  • National Police Check in the last 6 months (or willing to obtain)
  • Experience designing and delivering individualised learning programs
  • Understanding of the barriers to student engagement and experience promoting positive student wellbeing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including self-awareness, self-management and awareness of others in communication and problem solving.
  • Current First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009) (or willing to obtain)
  • Knowledge of the Victorian Curriculum will be highly regarded but is not essential.

Screening and interviews will begin as applications are received. This position may close early if a suitable candidate is identified before the official closing date.

At the Y, we are committed to empowering all Children and Young People to feel safe and be safe, at the Y, in their families and in their communities.
