Full-time (FTE 1.0), fixed-term (12-month) position to commence January 2027.

About the Role

All Saints Parish School Portland seeks the services of suitably qualified and accredited Graduate or Experienced Teacher for the position of 12-month, Full Time Classroom Teacher for the 2027 school year.

All Saints Parish School Portland is situated in the Parish of Portland on the far south-west coast and has a current student population of 263. The school actively seeks partnerships with parents, caregivers, parish and the wider community to enhance student learning and wellbeing. Catholic Identity & Mission-
  • A demonstrated understanding of the ethos of a Catholic school and its mission
  • A demonstrated understanding of the Church's teachings and the Catholic teacher's role in the mission of the Church
  • A demonstrated capacity to instil in students a respect for each other in accordance with the teachings of Jesus Christ
  • A capacity to integrate the Church's teachings into all aspects of curriculum
  • Promote the development of student's understanding of social justice issues and encourage action
Child Safety & Wellbeing-
  • Experience working with children
  • A demonstrated understanding of child safety
  • A demonstrated understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children
  • An ability to build positive, respectful and trusting relationships with students, parents and colleagues
  • A demonstrated understanding of the social, emotional, and physical wellbeing needs of young children
  • A demonstrated capacity to embed wellbeing principles into everyday classroom practice through a School Wide Positive Behaviour System
  • Familiarity with legal obligations relating to child safety (e.g. Child Safe Standards, mandatory reporting and relevant school policies and codes of conduct
  • Be a suitable person to engage in child-connected work
Curriculum & Assessment-
  • A capacity to use a range of teaching approaches to respond to different learning needs, abilities and levels of readiness
  • A demonstrated use of evidence-informed teaching practices that support students to make strong learning progress
  • Make effective use of learning technologies and other resources where they enhance learning.
  • A demonstrated willingness to reflect on the impact of teaching and adjust practice to improve student outcomes
  • A demonstrated use of assessment as an integral part of teaching and learning
  • A capacity to collect and analyse a range of formative and summative assessment data
Personal Skills & Attributes-
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Good oral and written communication skills, including ability to communicate with children, parents and the school community
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children
  • Demonstrated capacity to participate in a range of school activities, e.g. school sports, sacramental programs, liturgies, school camps/excursions
