Job description

Join a values-led organisation where your customer focus, judgement and curiosity truly make a difference. If you're a claims professional with 2–3 years' experience and some exposure to motor claims, who thrives in a collaborative, empowered environment, this is an opportunity to build your technical capability while contributing to a team striving for excellence.

Why Join Us

Rural Affinity is a place where people are encouraged to learn, develop and bring forward ideas. Our mission is to become the Obvious Choice for our partners; as we continue to evolve, we invest deeply in our people through technical development, exposure to varied claim types and opportunities to contribute to broader team and process improvements.

You’ll be supported by leaders who value initiative, empower thoughtful decision‑making and create space for you to refine your technical skills while making a real impact.

The Opportunity

As a Claims Specialist, you will play an important role in delivering fair, efficient and customer‑centric end‑to‑end claims management, with a particular focus on motor claims alongside a broader portfolio. You’ll work closely with brokers, repairers, assessors and internal teams to ensure accurate and timely fulfilment of claims, contributing to Rural Affinity’s mission of becoming “the Obvious Choice” for our partners.

This role offers meaningful scope to build on your existing motor claims exposure, develop your technical capability across a wider range of claim types, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement. Transparent communication, proactive engagement and strong customer outcomes will be central to your success.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Managing end‑to‑end claims with fairness, efficiency and a strong customer service focus.
  • Conducting thorough investigation and information gathering to support sound decision‑making.
  • Interpreting policy coverage accurately and confidently.
  • Liaising with repairers, assessors and other motor supply partners to coordinate assessments, repairs and vehicle recovery.
  • Managing claim costs in line with policy coverage, limits and delegated authority.
  • Maintaining comprehensive and well‑documented electronic claim files.
  • Identifying and mitigating potential fraud risks.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with brokers, service providers and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, GICOP and Claims Guidelines.
  • Communicating clearly, concisely and professionally across all touchpoints.
  • Collaborating cross‑functionally with underwriting, finance, compliance and broker management teams to support efficient claims fulfilment.
  • Committing to ongoing personal and professional development.
What You Bring
  • 2–3 years’ experience in insurance claims handling, with exposure to motor claims.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability with sound judgement.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Good working knowledge of industry trends, risks and regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with motor claims processes, including repairer networks, total loss and salvage.
  • The ability to balance detail with efficiency, ensuring positive customer outcomes.
  • A commitment to ethical decision‑making and regulatory compliance.

Relevant qualifications are highly regarded.

We invest in our people just as much as we ask them to invest in us, including:

  • Paid parental leave to support you through life's big moments
  • Support toward industry qualifications as you build your technical expertise
  • Ergonomic workstations designed with your wellbeing in mind
  • A genuinely dog‑friendly office (yes, four‑legged colleagues welcome)
