Medical Indemnity Protection Society Ltd (MIPS) is seeking a Claims Operations Manager to oversee the end‑to‑end operating rhythm of the Claims function in Australia. You will connect operational delivery with governance, reporting and workforce planning, driving performance from data insights and strengthening controls.

The role requires experience in claims or insurance operations, strong leadership, and the ability to coordinate with external partners and internal teams to achieve

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in claims operations or a regulated insurance environment.
• Strong operational management including workloads, SLAs and performance.
• Strong data literacy to interpret reports and translate insights.
• Understanding of governance, risk, and control frameworks.
• Experience managing third-party providers, including performance and cost.
• Experience leading and embedding process or system changes.
• People leadership experience with performance management and workforce planning.
• Strong stakeholder management with senior leaders and external partners.
• Curious, action-oriented mindset to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end operating rhythm of the Claims function, connecting operational delivery, governance, reporting and workforce requirements.
• Monitor claims volumes, workloads, service levels and operational performance, using data and insights to identify issues and drive action.
• Strengthen the Claims control environment through governance, assurance, data quality and remediation of control gaps.
• Oversee internal, external and regulatory reporting, ensuring information is accurate and supports decision-making.
• Manage the performance of legal panel firms and other third‑party providers, including service, quality and spend.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen efficiency, quality, controls and member outcomes.
• Support implementation of new processes, systems and SOPs with training and operational frameworks.
• Provide day‑to‑day people leadership and workforce planning to support capability and continuity.
• Build partnerships across Claims, Risk & Compliance, Finance, Data and other areas of MIPS.
