Job summary

TAL is a leading life insurer in Australia, protecting Australians for over 150 years. The Claims Consultant role sits in our Group Space for the AWARE fund and focuses on end-to-end life insurance claims processes.

You will assess Group Life claims (TPD, Death, Terminal Illness), review supporting evidence, and communicate clearly with claimants and stakeholders while upholding policy terms and industry codes in a hybrid Sydney-based environment.

Qualifications

• Experience managing life insurance claims within Group policies.
• TPD claims experience is ideal.
• Experience in Workers' Compensation or Return to Work claims with Allied Health background.
• Strong analytical and time-management skills.
• Excellent communication with empathy.

Responsibilities

Job Description

As a Claims Consultant within our Group Space for our AWARE fund, you will manage life insurance claims for start to finish, providing a flawless experience for our customer.

In this role you will:

• Assess and manage Group Life claims across TPD, Death and Terminal Illnessfrom lodgement to determination.
• Review medical, financial and legal evidence to make fair, accurate and timely claim decisions.
• Communicate with claimants, trustees, employers and other stakeholders, providing clear and empathetic support throughout the claims process.
• Liaise with internal specialists and external providers, including rehabilitation consultants, medical practitioners, reinsurers and legal representatives.
• Ensure compliance with policy terms, legislation and the Life Insurance Code of Practice while maintaining accurate claim documentation.
• Proactively manage claim progress, identify barriers and drive positive customer outcomes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support enhancements to claims processes and customer experience.
• Maintain current knowledge of life insurance products, claims management practices and industry developments.

Qualifications

Qualifications

• Life insurance claims management experience within Group policy -TPD claims experience is ideal OR;
• Workers Compensation or Return to Work claims management experience with an Allied Health background
• Strong analytical, problem-solving & time-management skills
• Excellent communication & empathy to support customers during challenging times.
• Solid understanding of injuries, illnesses and treatment
