Job summary

Zinfra is seeking a Civil / Structural Engineer for Victoria, focusing on the civil and structural design of substations and associated infrastructure. You will work with electrical engineers, project managers and delivery teams to design earthworks, foundations, drainage and structures that support Zone Substations and transmission assets.

Applicants should have Australian standards knowledge and strong documentation skills, with experience in utilities or major infrastructure.

Qualifications

• A recognised Civil Engineering qualification, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in civil and/or structural design.
• Experience within utilities, electricity or major infrastructure is highly regarded.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Standards and engineering practices.
• Experience with earthworks, drainage, structures and foundations.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
• Strong engineering calculation and technical documentation skills.
• An understanding of project costs, scopes, schedules and delivery.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Design bulk earthworks, drainage, buildings, structures and equipment foundations.
• Develop civil and structural solutions for Zone Substations up to 66kV.
• Prepare detailed engineering calculations, specifications and design documentation.
• Support civil aspects of underground cable infrastructure and earthing system design.
• Support transmission line tower civil and structural design.
• Review and quality-check designs.
• Develop scopes, estimates, schedules and resource plans.
• Support projects through design, construction and commissioning.
• Collaborate with project managers, electrical engineers, contractors and suppliers.
• Identify risks and deliver practical, innovative solutions.
• Share knowledge and support team development.

This role will focus on the civil and structural design of substations, including earthworks, drainage, buildings, equipment foundations, steel structures and associated infrastructure.

Your opportunity

Working alongside electrical engineers, project managers and delivery teams, you’ll help design the civil and structural components that support critical Zone Substation and transmission infrastructure.

Your work will include:

• Designing bulk earthworks, drainage, buildings, structures and equipment foundations
• Developing civil and structural solutions for Zone Substations up to 66kV
• Preparing detailed engineering calculations, specifications and design documentation
• Supporting the civil aspects of underground cable infrastructure and earthing system design
• Supporting transmission line tower civil and structural design
• Reviewing and quality-checking designs
• Developing scopes, estimates, schedules and resource plans
• Supporting projects through design, construction and commissioning
• Working closely with project managers, electrical engineers, contractors and suppliers

About you

We’re looking for someone who is technically strong, curious and genuinely enjoys working with people.

You’ll ideally bring:

• A recognised Civil Engineering qualification, or equivalent experience
• Experience in civil and/or structural design
• Experience within utilities, electricity, energy or major infrastructure is highly regarded
• Strong knowledge of Australian Standards and engineering practices
