Job summary

Placements24 in Australia is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Paralegal specializing in Civil Litigation to support the litigation team by managing case files, conducting legal research, and assisting with document preparation.

You will play a key role from initiation through to trial or settlement, drafting pleadings, organizing files, scheduling depositions, and communicating with clients and opposing counsel within a professional Queenstown-based firm.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in paralegal studies or law (LLB).
• Minimum 3 years of paralegal experience in civil litigation.
• Proficiency with legal research databases and case management software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Strong organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Understanding of court rules and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist attorneys in managing civil litigation caseloads from filing to trial preparation.
• Conduct legal research on statutes, case law, and precedents.
• Draft pleadings, discovery requests, and correspondence under supervision.
• Organize and maintain case files, evidence, and discovery materials.
• Schedule depositions, client interviews, and court appearances.
• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court staff as directed by attorneys.
• Prepare trial binders and assist during court proceedings.
