Job summary

AECOM in Sydney is seeking a motivated CAD / Drafting Specialist to join our Highways team. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who is eager to develop technical drafting skills while contributing to the delivery of major transport infrastructure projects.

Working under the guidance of senior drafters, designers and engineers, you will support the preparation of design documentation and develop your expertise in industry-leading tools and standards.

Qualifications

• Diploma, Advanced Diploma, or Degree in Civil Engineering Design or related discipline.
• 0–5 years drafting or civil design experience (internship, placement, or graduate accepted).
• Basic experience with AutoCAD or Civil 3D.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Willingness to learn and develop new technical skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to follow instructions and work to deadlines.
• Basic problem-solving capability.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of 2D drawings and 3D models for highways and transport infrastructure projects.
• Support engineers and designers by translating design concepts into accurate CAD documentation.
• Produce plans, sections, details, and other deliverables in accordance with project requirements.

How you’ll make a difference

AECOM is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented CAD / Drafting Specialist to join our Highways team in Sydney. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who is eager to develop technical drafting skills while contributing to the delivery of major transport infrastructure projects.

Working under the guidance of senior drafters, designers and engineers, you will support the preparation of design documentation and develop your expertise in industry-leading tools and standards.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assist in the preparation of 2D drawings and 3D models for highways and transport infrastructure projects
• Support engineers and designers by translating design concepts into accurate CAD documentation
• Produce plans, sections, details, and other deliverables in accordance with project requirements
• Make updates and revisions to existing drawings as directed

You will be supported in developing your technical capabilities to:

• Learn and apply AECOM CAD standards, templates, and workflows
• Develop proficiency in tools such as Autodesk Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and other digital engineering platforms
• Support basic modelling tasks under supervision
• Build understanding of civil design principles including alignments, drainage, and earthworks

Qualifications

• Have ideally commenced or have a Diploma, Advanced Diploma, or Degree in Civil Engineering Design, Drafting, or a related discipline or a willingness to pursue.
• 0 -5 years of experience in drafting or civil design (internship, placement, or graduate experience accepted)
• Basic experience with AutoCAD or Civil 3D
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Willingness to learn and develop new technical skills
• Good communication and teamwork abilities
• Ability to follow instructions and work to deadlines
