Job summary

Western Downs Regional Council in Dalby region is offering a 12-month fixed-term full-time Civil Construction Trainee opportunity. You will gain hands-on experience while completing a Certificate II in Civil Construction, with a focus on scheduling, labouring, and teamwork across multiple towns.

Applicants must have Year 12 or equivalent, a White Card, and a willingness to obtain a QLD C Class Licence and complete the qualification within 12 months.

Qualifications

• Year 12 certificate or equivalent is required or demonstrated experience.
• Willingness to complete a Certificate II in Civil Construction within 12 months.
• Current Queensland C Class Licence is desirable.
• WH&S Induction White Card is essential or willingness to obtain before starting.

Responsibilities

• Assist with scheduling and resourcing for civil construction projects.
• Carry out daily duties per work procedures to meet schedules.
• Undertake manual handling and labouring duties as directed by Supervisor.
• Work as part of a team to complete construction and maintenance activities on time and to standard.
• Provide courteous customer service to residents and Council customers.

Council are seeking driven, friendly, passionate and confident individuals, to join our team as a Civil Construction Trainee. You will gain hands-on experience while completing a Certificate II in Civil Construction.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with scheduling and resourcing.
• Carrying out daily duties as per work procedures to meet schedules as directed by Supervisor.
• Undertaking manual handling / labouring duties as directed by Supervisor.
• Working as a team member when undertaking construction and maintenance activities and meet with required standards and timeframes.
• Providing efficient and courteous customer service to Council’s customers.

About yourself

• Need to hold a relevant Year 12 Certificate in Education, OR be able to demonstrate equivalent related experience.
• Be required to complete a Certificate II in Civil Construction within 12 months.
• Hold a current Queensland C Class Licence (is desirable).
• Hold an OH&S Construction Induction White Card (is essential) or willingness to obtain an OH&S Construction Induction White Card prior to commencement.
• Be required to undertake pre-employment literacy and numeracy tests.
• Applicants may be required to undertake a Pre-Employment Medical.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment to work towards and achieve team objectives; and
• Ability to multi-task while maintaining high attention to detail.
