Job summary

Barnardos Australia is seeking a dedicated child care trainee for our early learning centre in Ultimo, NSW. You will assist educators, support daily routines, and engage with children in a warm, respectful manner.

Join a trauma-informed team committed to child safety, cultural safety, and family-led practice. You’ll be working towards an ACECQA-approved Certificate III and participating in ongoing training to grow professionally.

Qualifications

• Active enrollment or willingness to enroll in an ACECQA-approved Certificate III in Education and Care.
• Complete prescribed national child safety training and NSW child protection training within statutory timeframes.
• Genuine interest in working with children.
• Willingness to learn and develop professionally.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to engage respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and communities, including cultural safety understanding.

Responsibilities

• Assist educators to implement play-based learning programs aligned with EYLF.
• Support children’s participation in daily experiences, routines and transitions.
• Engage with children in a warm, responsive and respectful manner.
• Observe children’s play and share relevant information with educators.
• Support children’s agency by encouraging choice and independence.
• Participate in study, training and workplace learning activities.
