Overview

A rare opportunity...no weekend or evening work! Are you passionate about preparing nutritious meals and creating a warm, welcoming environment for children? We're looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Chef to join our early childhood team! We are offering a contracted position, with the opportunity for permanent placement based on performance and fit.

About the Role

As our centre's Chef, you will play a vital role in supporting the health and wellbeing of our children (0-5yrs) by preparing daily meals and snacks that are healthy, balanced, and in line with dietary guidelines. You\'ll work closely with our educators and leadership team to plan seasonal menus, accommodate dietary requirements, and help promote positive food experiences for children.

Responsibilities
  • Planning and preparing morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea
  • Catering for allergies, intolerances, and cultural food preferences
  • Maintaining a clean, hygienic, and organised kitchen environment in accordance with food handling and food safety guidelines
  • Ordering and managing food supplies
  • Ensuring compliance with all recommended nutrition guidelines
  • Encouraging children to enjoy a variety of foods supporting children's involvement in suitable cooking activities
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience in a similar role (preferably in an early childhood setting), planning menus for children
  • Genuine respect for children and a commitment to their wellbeing
  • Cert 111 in Commercial Cookery and current Food Handling and Food Safety Supervisor Certificates
  • Working With Children Check or ability to obtain
  • First Aid Certificate, including allergy and anaphylaxis
  • Well presented, physically fit, and capable
  • Organised, reliable, and able to work independently
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a cooperative team
