Job summary

Macquarie University is seeking an experienced Head of Workplace Health and Safety to lead the central WHS function across a complex campus, laboratories and health facilities. You will set the WHS strategy and oversee injury management and return-to-work programs.

Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, you will guide policy, governance, reporting to University Council and manage a team of specialists, ensuring compliance with NSW WHS Act and related regulations.

Qualifications

• Senior WHS leadership experience
• Ability to govern complex safety programs across multiple spaces (labs, teaching spaces, health facilities)
• Proven track record in injury management and return-to-work programs

Responsibilities

• Set and deliver the WHS strategy across the University and entities
• Oversee injury management and workers compensation
• Guide reporting to University Council, committees and boards
• Lead a team of WHS professionals and ensure regulatory compliance
