Job summary

Derwent is seeking a Chief Financial Officer for a market-leading Civil Infrastructure Construction business backed by Private Equity, based in regional NSW. Reporting to the CEO, you will lead the finance function and drive a major value-creation agenda across the organisation.

The ideal candidate has a proven CFO track record in project-based, contract-led environments with a distributed blue-collar workforce, ideally civil contracting, EPC or mining.

Qualifications

• CFO with track record in a project-based, contract-led business with a distributed blue-collar workforce.
• Commercial partnering experience to scale a business and protect margins.
• Experience managing complex multi-year contracts, including margin, cash flow and risk control.
• Strong treasury and debt facility management capabilities.
• Leadership to inspire a high-performing, safety-embedded culture.
• Hands-on style suitable for a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
• Private equity experience is preferred but not essential.

We have been retained to find and appoint a Chief Financial Officer for a market-leading Civil Infrastructure Contracting business, backed by Private Equity. The business has an outstanding reputation in the market, recognised globally for its expertise. They are extremely well positioned to continue its high growth, benefiting from meaningful exposure to future-facing commodities and the energy transition.

As CFO, you will report to the CEO and play a pivotal role in driving a major value creation agenda.

To be considered for this position, you should have the following profile:

• A proven track record as a CFO in a project-based, contract-led business with a distributed blue-collar workforce, ideally civil contracting, EPC, Mining or Industrial Services.
• Demonstrated commercial partnering experience, helping scale a business, protecting margin and profitability.
• Experience managing a range of complex, multi-year contracts, including margin, cash flow and risk control.
• Exceptional financial management capability and commercial acumen, including treasury and debt facility management.
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire and lead a high-performing, safety-embedded culture across the corporate office and workforce.
• A hands-on style and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
• Private equity experience is preferred but not essential.
