About the Role:

The Chief Financial Officer leads the overall financial strategy, governance and reporting, safeguarding financial integrity while providing strategic financial insights to support business growth.

Working closely with the General Manager and key leadership team, the role oversees financial planning, project performance, cash flow, funding, risk management, compliance and finance systems, ensuring the business is financially sustainable and positioned to scale.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead financial strategy aligned with business growth, providing strategic advice to the GM and Board on financial performance, risk and investment decisions. Oversee major capital investments and establish financial frameworks, policies and controls to support sustainable business growth.
  • Oversee annual budgeting, rolling forecasts and long-term financial planning, working with key business leaders to align financial projections with sales pipeline, production capacity and project delivery. Conduct scenario modelling, monitor budget variances and provide actionable insights to support strategic and commercial decisions.
  • Oversee monthly financial reporting and management accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery of financial and project performance reports to the GM, Board and shareholders. Monitor project profitability, margins, revenue recognition and cost-to-complete, while establishing key financial and operational performance metrics.
  • Manage cash flow forecasting, working capital, banking relationships and funding facilities, ensuring liquidity and covenant compliance. Oversee financial guarantees and surety arrangements, while developing funding strategies to support business growth, project delivery and increased factory capacity.
  • Ensure financial and regulatory compliance, maintain robust internal controls and risk management frameworks, and oversee audits, taxation, insurance and fraud prevention. Establish and enforce financial governance, policies and delegations of authority to safeguard the business.
  • Partner with the Commercial Director on pricing, tender profitability, contract terms and commercial risk. Provide financial insights to support bids, major contracts and supplier agreements, while managing credit exposure and supporting claims, variations and dispute resolution.
  • Oversee finance systems, tax compliance and process improvements across key financial functions, including procurement, payroll and reporting. Ensure data integrity and implement scalable systems and processes to support business growth and operational efficiency.
  • Lead and develop the finance team through clear performance expectations, coaching and succession planning. Build a high-performing, accountable team that promotes financial integrity, accuracy and effective business partnering across the organisation, while upholding company values.

About You:

  • Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related discipline, with CA/CPA membership. Postgraduate qualifications (MBA or Master's) highly regarded.
  • Senior Leadership Experience: 15+ years of finance experience, including at least 7 years in a CFO, Finance Director or senior finance leadership role, with a proven track record managing a sizeable business finance function.
  • Industry Experience: Strong background in project-based, construction, engineering or manufacturing environments, including project costing, WIP accounting, revenue recognition and cost-to-complete forecasting.
  • Financial & Commercial Expertise: Demonstrated experience in financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, modelling, working capital management, banking facilities, funding and commercial risk.
  • Governance & Compliance: Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, Corporations Act, taxation requirements, board reporting, audits and shareholder engagement.
  • Systems & Process Improvement: Experience with ERP, project costing systems, financial reporting tools and leading finance process improvements.
  • Leadership & Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to develop high-performing finance teams, partner with commercial and operational leaders, and communicate effectively with executives, boards and external stakeholders.

Desirable:

  • Direct experience with hyperscale or colocation data centre supply chains and their commercial and payment frameworks.
  • Experience in capital-intensive or high-growth businesses, including raising or restructuring debt or equity funding.
  • Experience with the Research and Development Tax Incentive or similar government programs.
