Job summary

Silentium Defence is seeking a Chief Engineer to shape the organisation's technical vision and engineering strategy from concept through deployment and sustainment across Australian and global markets.

The role leads all engineering functions, balancing hardware development with scalable software/data platforms, and defines long-term roadmaps while ensuring reliability, security and performance.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive engineering experience with significant leadership at a Chief Engineer level or equivalent.
• Degree in Electrical, Software, Systems Engineering or a related discipline is required; postgraduate qualifications or PhD highly regarded.
• Deep technical expertise across radar systems, RF engineering, signal processing, embedded systems, software architecture, data analytics or AI/ML.
• Experience taking complex products from concept through deployment and sustainment.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership across all engineering functions and define technical roadmaps aligned with customer requirements and business goals.
• Oversee the full engineering lifecycle from concept to deployment and sustainment.
• Drive innovation across radar, sensing, software and data architectures with manufacturability and security in mind.
• Build and mentor high-performing multidisciplinary teams and govern engineering KPIs and governance.
• Manage technical relationships with manufacturing partners and champion Agile, Lean and continuous improvement.
