Role Description

The Chemistry Teacher is a full-time, on-site role based at Carlisle Adventist College in Mackay, QLD starting in 2027. The person in this role will plan and deliver engaging chemistry lessons, aligned with curriculum requirements, that foster curiosity, critical thinking, and scientific literacy in secondary students. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing lesson materials, teaching classes, assessing student progress, providing feedback, and maintaining accurate records of learning and achievement. The role also involves collaborating with colleagues, communicating with families as needed, contributing to school events, and supporting student wellbeing and classroom management in line with the College’s Christian ethos and CARE values. The Chemistry Teacher will actively participate in professional learning and help create a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment for all students.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Teaching and Chemistry Education skills, with proven ability to deliver curriculum-aligned learning in secondary chemistry.
• Candidates should possess effective Lesson Planning skills, including designing differentiated, engaging, and well-structured units and assessments.
• Candidates should possess clear and empathetic Communication skills to interact with students, families, and colleagues and to support student wellbeing.
• Candidates should possess foundational Physics knowledge to integrate relevant scientific concepts and support broader science learning where required.
• Relevant bachelor’s degree in education or science (with a chemistry major), plus recognised teacher training and registration (or eligibility) in Queensland.
• Commitment to the Christian ethos and values of a Seventh-day Adventist school, and willingness to support the spiritual life of the College community.
• Demonstrated classroom management skills, ability to use educational technologies, and engagement in ongoing professional development.
