Job summary

Green Leaves Early Learning in Adelaide is seeking a professional Chef to create nutritious meals for children from 6 weeks to 6 years, planning menus, preparing meals, and ensuring food safety.

You will manage stock and budgeting, supervise a kitchen hand, and run culinary classes alongside Educators, with opportunities for career development and access to our supplier discounts and well-being initiatives.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery required.
• Relevant safety and safeguarding certifications required or in process.
• Experience in child-focused catering is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan an interesting and exciting menu for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years.
• Prepare a wide variety of nutritious meals and purees while considering dietary needs.
• Manage kitchen stock, budgeting and shopping with autonomy.
• Ensure high standards of food safety and supervision per regulations.
• Mentor a kitchen hand to deliver high-quality food and service.
• Deliver culinary classes alongside Educators for young learners.

Day to day, in this role, you can enjoy:

• Use your mastery knowledge of cooking to plan an interesting and exciting menu for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years old
• Preparing a wide variety of nutritious meals and purees, as well as working to dietary requirements for babies and children
• Confidently managing the kitchen autonomously, ensuring effective stock rotation, budgeting, and shopping for your kitchen
• Ensuring the highest level of food safety and supervision in accordance with the Food and Council Authority requirements and Green Leaves Early Learning Standards
• Mentoring and guiding a kitchen hand in a professional environment, to deliver the highest quality of food and service
• Providing thoughtful culinary classes alongside our Educators to our littlest learners

About You:

• At least a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
• Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willing to obtain)
• A current SA Working with Children's Check (or willing to obtain)
• Current SA Child Protection Training (or willingto obtain)
• Current HLTAID012 First Aid Certificate and CPR (or willing to obtain)
• National Child Safety Training (or willing to obtain)
• National Police Clearance obtained in the last 6 months (or willing to obtain)
• Must be available Monday to Friday6:30 am to 2:30 pm
