Job summary

Spitting Image Catering in Blackburn North, VIC is seeking a motivated Chef/Cook for high-volume food production and on-site catering. The role offers casual or part-time hours (10–20 per week, more in December) with shifts including days, nights, and weekends.

You will prep food in the kitchen and drive to on-site events in Metro Melbourne with a catering assistant. The ideal candidate has significant kitchen experience, excellent time management, and strong knife skills, with flexibility for

• Excellent time management and ability to multitask in a fast-paced kitchen.
• Flexibility to work Saturdays and some evenings.
• Proven kitchen experience with references.

• Food prep at the Blackburn North kitchen, including salads and bulk cooking.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced & motivated Chef/Cook to join our team at Spitting Image Catering in Blackburn North, Victoria.

This is a well paid casual OR part ime postion for anywhere between 10 - 20 hours per week - more in December

We are offering variable hours per week , with the option of days or nights & weekends. The shifts are generally minimum 5 hours and can be longer if preferred .

We need a Chef/Cook with experience in high volume food production and on site catering.

You need to hit the ground running for our busiest period of the year .

Your role will be focused on for 2 key areas : -

Food prep at our kitchen in Blackburn North - making salads, cooking pasta, rice, noodles and general bulk prep withing alongside our current team of kitchen legends .

On site catering - driving an auto van from our kitchen to on site events in Metro Melbourne with a catering assistant. We specialize in on site BBQ catering and on site roast meat carvery buffet - great knife skills are essential !

What we're looking for

• Significant experience & maturity as a Chef/Cook in a commercial catering or hospitality environmen
• Excellent time management and multitasking abilities to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen
• Flexibility to work Saturdays and some evenings as requested
• Proven experience in kitchens with references
• Excellent communication with customers and staff.
