Job summary

Green Leaves Early Learning is seeking a qualified Chef to plan nutritious menus for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years and prepare meals respecting dietary needs. You will manage the kitchen, supervise a kitchen hand, and collaborate with Educators to deliver engaging cooking experiences.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or higher) required.
• Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
• Previous experience in a Chef role.
• Current WA Working with Children’s Check.
• Current WA Child Protection and National Child Safety Training Certificates.
• Current First Aid and CPR (HLTAID012).
• National Police Clearance obtained in the last 6 months.
• Availability to work from 7:00am to 2:30pm, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities

• Plan an interesting and exciting menu for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years.
• Prepare a wide variety of nutritious meals and purees per dietary requirements.
• Autonomously manage the kitchen, including stock rotation, budgeting and shopping.
• Uphold high food safety standards per Food Authority and Green Leaves guidelines.
• Mentor and guide a kitchen hand to deliver high quality food and service.
• Provide culinary classes with Educators for our young learners.

Day to day, in this role, you can enjoy:

• Use your mastery knowledge of cooking to plan an interesting and exciting menu for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years old
• Preparing a wide variety of nutritious meals and purees, as well as working to dietary requirements for babies and children
• Confidently managing the kitchen autonomously, ensuring effective stock rotation, budgeting, and shopping for your kitchen
• Ensuring the highest level of food safety and supervision in accordance with the Food and Council Authority requirements and Green Leaves Early Learning Standards
• Mentoring and guiding a kitchen hand in a professional environment, to deliver the highest quality of food and service
• Providing thoughtful culinary classes alongside our Educators to our littlest learners

About You:

• ACertificate III in Commercial Cookery, or above
• Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
• Previous experience in a Chef role
• Current WA Working with Children's Check
• Current WA Child Protection and National Child Safety Training Certificates
• Current First Aid and CPR (HLTAID012)
• National Police Clearance obtained in the last 6 months
• The availability to work from 7:00am to 2:30 pm, Monday to Friday
