CFO - 4-month Fixed Term Contract

This CFO contract role offers the chance to acquire and establish finance frameworks in a fast-growing Australian business.

Privately owned Australian enterprise operating in a highly regulated environment with strong demand and attractive margins, the business partners with operators to modernise and scale their operations.

North Sydney based offices with work from home options. $250K - $300K + Super (PA) – pro-rata four-month duration

Company Background

Richard Lloyd is assisting with the recruitment of a Chief Financial Officer for a privately owned Australian business in the industrial services sector.

Backed by a highly experienced leadership team, the company is at an early stage of its growth journey and is currently completing significant acquisitions with further expansion on the horizon. The business model centres on acquiring and scaling operations to build a market-leading platform with strong growth potential.

This CFO role offers a rare opportunity to join at the ground level, providing hands-on financial leadership during a critical period of transition, while working closely with a small, high-calibre team.

The Role

Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with a Director, as CFO, you will provide critical support to the leadership team through the final stages of the current acquisitions and establishment of finance structures across the group. Your duties will include:

  • Support the completion of acquisitions, including fundraising activities.
  • Coordinate documentation and requirements leading up to the signing of acquisition agreements.
  • Oversee the finalisation and settlement of transactions.
  • Liaise with investors to ensure timely capital flows and compliance with approvals.
  • Manage circular resolutions and board approvals with directors.
  • Provide company secretarial support across governance and compliance (desirable, not essential).
  • Establish frameworks and processes for effective financial operations.

This initial contract is for 4 months (FTC), with the potential for extension or transition into a permanent role depending on business needs and candidate fit.

Your Background

To be considered for this Chief Financial Officer role, you will have one of the two following profiles:

  • Comprehensive M&A experience in a commercial setting.
  • Come from a background working in a transaction services environment.
  • Additionally, you must possess the following skills and attributes:
  • Immediately available or with a maximum 1-week notice period.
  • Professionally qualified (CA/CPA or equivalent).
  • Hands-on approach, comfortable working in a lean team without large back-office support.
  • Energetic, adaptable, and commercially minded, with the ability to influence at the board level.
  • An industrial services or multi-site business background is highly regarded.
  • Company secretarial experience is desirable but not critical.
