Job summary

Department of Education Victoria’s Early Learning Victoria Numurkah is seeking a cook/chef to prepare nutritious meals for a 102-place centre including three and four-year-old programs. You will ensure dietary requirements are met, manage stock within budget, and maintain a safe kitchen in compliance with Food Safety Act and ELV policies.

Experience in high-volume cooking and knowledge of food safety, plus WWC checks and delivery of culturally appropriate meals, is required.

Qualifications

• Experience preparing nutritious meals for a high-volume centre.
• Knowledge of Food Safety Act and food handling requirements.
• Ability to cater for diverse dietary, allergy and cultural needs.
• Strong communication with staff, families and communities.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare nutritious meals and snacks for children in line with policy.
• Ensure meals meet individual dietary requirements and are culturally appropriate.
• Order food supplies and manage stock within budget.
• Maintain a safe, clean kitchen environment in line with Food Safety Act and ELV policies.
• Keep the Food Safety Program updated and maintain kitchen equipment.
