Job summary

CSIRO is seeking an ICT Systems Administrator at the Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex (CDSCC) to deliver hands-on desktop and end-user support, manage hardware and software deployments, and keep critical NASA-related ICT services reliable.

You will work within a skilled ICT team across desktop management, networks, cybersecurity and enterprise systems, with a 9-day fortnight, strong superannuation and fleet transport to the site.

Qualifications

  • A tertiary qualification in Information Technology or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft desktop maintenance in a domain environment.
  • Demonstrated help desk or fault diagnosis experience within an enterprise.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Level 1 ICT support and manage helpdesk requests.
  • Deploy, configure and maintain desktop and laptop environments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software and user issues, escalating when required.
  • Support the administration and maintenance of ICT infrastructure and network-connected devices.
  • Perform desktop imaging, software deployment, patching and system updates.
  • Maintain ICT asset registers, system configurations and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver secure, reliable and customer-focused ICT services in accordance with CSIRO policies and values.

The opportunity

TheCanberra Deep Space Communication Complex (CDSCC)supports ground-based spacecraft telecommunications as part of the international National Aeronautic Space Administration (NASA) Deep Space Network (DSN), under contractual arrangements between the NASA and Commonwealth Scientific Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO).

As an ICT Systems Administrator at the Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex (CDSCC), you'll play a hands-on role supporting the critical ICT environment that underpins NASA's Deep Space Network operations. Working as part of a skilled ICT team, you'll provide desktop and end-user support, manage hardware and software deployments, troubleshoot technical issues, and contribute to the reliable operation of complex IT systems supporting space exploration activities.

Your high-level duties will include:

Provide Level 1 ICT support and manage helpdesk requests.

Deploy, configure and maintain desktop and laptop environments.

Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software and user issues, escalating when required.

Support the administration and maintenance of ICT infrastructure and network-connected devices.

Perform desktop imaging, software deployment, patching and system updates.

Maintain ICT asset registers, system configurations and technical documentation.

Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver secure, reliable and customer-focused ICT services in accordance with CSIRO policies and values.

Location:Tidbinbilla, ACT – Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex (CDSCC)

Salary: AU$93,814 to AU$113,819 pa, plus Tracking Station Allowance of $139.16 per week, plus 15.4% superannuation (also eligible for fleet transport to & from site within a defined Canberra region)

Tenure & work schedule:Indefinite, Full-time on a 9-day fortnightly schedule

As the successful candidate, you will bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in Information Technology or equivalent relevant experience in desktop/laptop administration and support.
  • Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of Microsoft desktop/laptop maintenance in a domain environment.
  • Demonstrated help desk or fault diagnosis experience within an enterprise environment.

Demonstrated interpersonal skills necessary to support clients via in-person, phone or remote assistance tools to with desktop and/or mobile devices.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a diverse multi-skilled team.
  • Demonstrated ability to write technical documentation.
  • Knowledge, Skills or experience with cybersecurity disciplines.
