Job summary

CSIRO is seeking a CBIS Regional Manager for ACT/NSW to lead property and site services across multiple locations. You will oversee regional delivery, leverage relationships with site leaders, and align service standards with the CBIS Charter.

A strategic property leader will manage staff and drive continuous improvement within a complex portfolio. You will lead operations, manage budgets, and collaborate with regional managers to ensure consistent service delivery and high-quality property

• Lead day-to-day regional delivery of CBIS services across ACT/NSW sites, including property, facilities, leasing, site services, reception, fleet, stores, procurement and contractor activities.
• Act as a trusted adviser to internal stakeholders by understanding client needs and aligning CSIRO strategy with regional delivery.
• Manage regional resources, budgets, work plans and team performance to deliver outcomes and support staff development and succession planning.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with site leaders and stakeholders, influencing outcomes beyond direct control.
• Maintain knowledge of facilities management, building services, infrastructure, and safety across the regional portfolio.
• Identify opportunities to improve cost, quality, compliance and service delivery, sharing insights with other Regional Managers.

The opportunity

CSIRO Business and Infrastructure Services (CBIS) manages a complex property portfolio of more than 1,000 owned and leased buildings across 44 locations in Australia and three countries overseas, supporting world-class research, national research infrastructure and corporate operations.

As the CBIS Regional Manager – ACT/NSW, you will represent CBIS at a regional level, providing property services, advice and leadership to internal and external stakeholders in support of the CBIS Property Strategy. Responsible for optimising portfolio assets and delivering high-quality property and site services across ACT and NSW, you will lead regional operations, manage staff, oversee site-based services, and build strong relationships with site leaders and key internal stakeholders.

You will also work closely with other Regional Managers to ensure consistent service delivery across regions, in line with the CBIS Service Charter and Scope of Services. If you're a strategic property leader who thrives in a complex and diverse environment, we'd love to hear from you.

Your high-level duties will include:

• Leading the day-to-day regional delivery of CBIS services across ACT/NSW sites, including property, facilities, leasing, site services, reception, fleet, stores, procurement and contractor-related activities.
• Acting as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders by understanding client needs, balancing Research Unit priorities with CSIRO strategy, and supporting effective, efficient delivery of property services.
• Managing regional resources, budgets, work plans and team performance to deliver agreed outcomes and support staff development, succession planning and emerging capability.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with site leaders and other key stakeholders, influencing outcomes where there may not be direct line control.
• Maintaining knowledge of facilities management, building services, infrastructure, soft services, technical compliance, regulatory requirements and safe work practices across the regional portfolio.
• Identifying opportunities to improve cost, quality, compliance and service delivery, and sharing insights and improvements with other Regional Managers.

As the successful candidate, you will bring:

• Demonstrated relevant professional experience, and/or qualifications, in property management for a complex and diverse portfolio.
• In depth knowledge of property standards and management in relation to business operations in a technical environment, and the ability to translate this information.
• Knowledge of the property industry and networks together with experience in developing processes, procedures and standards.
• Knowledge of procurement and subcontractor management in relation to property, leasing and building services.
• Strong people management skills, particularly managing people and teams remotely.
• Strong customer-focused communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships, influence outcomes, and negotiate effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
• The ability to work with ambiguity and to seek clarity, a good track record in change management, and an outlook which recognises and focusses on opportunities for learning and growth.
• A history of professional and respectful behaviours and attitudes in a collaborative environment.
