What does a typical day look like?

As a Catering Attendant in our Wash Area, you’re an integral member of our team, working in our commercial kitchens, as a specialist taking care of and cleaning all our customers equipment, cutlery, crockery, glassware and our chefs\' tools of trade such as knives, chopping boards and some culinary machinery.

In our business, we deliver a memorable dining experience for thousands of passengers onboard our airline customers flights everyday. To do this, we require this role to perform a variety of tasks on the overnight shift preparing all of the equipment, and setting up to make sure all areas including work benches, preparation areas, sinks and kitchen tools are thoroughly cleaned and sanitised, ready for the morning shift.

Responsibilities
  • Handling, cleaning and storing various customer airline equipment, including cups, glassware, knives, forks, spoons, plates, bowls etc. Ensuring they are all carefully matched to each Airline, and presentation specifications (visual guides).
  • Stocking enough of each item in their storage areas ready for the tray set ups.
  • Loading and unloading our wash lines, ensuring that all cutlery, crockery, and glassware are in perfect condition.
  • Compliance with all Food Safety and HACCP guidelines, and adherence to hygiene standards and cleaning schedules.
  • Proper use of protective gear, safe use of approved chemicals for the Wash Area
  • Finish your allocation of tasks and duties before deadline / end of shift.
  • Communicate and coordinate with team members to ensure delivery timelines.
  • Follow any instructions given to you by your section Supervisor or Leading Hand.
What do you need to be successful?
  • Sound numerical skills for accurate documentation and reporting.

  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time, as well as move and lift items.
  • Ability to work shift work across a 7-day roster.
  • Neat and tidy presentation.
  • Sound knowledge of food hygiene and HACCP (desired but not essential).
  • As you will be working in the Aviation Services industry, you will be required to obtain a clear National Police Check.
  • Availability to work 38 hours/week, as this role is a full-time permanent position.
