Job summary

Blacktown City Council is seeking a casual Catering Assistant to help deliver high-quality food and beverage service across our venues. You will prep and serve, set up kiosks, handle customer enquiries, operate the cash register, and uphold food safety standards in a busy, high-volume environment.

This role offers flexible 3–7 hour shifts, including weekend work, with casual loading of 25%. You’ll join a supportive catering team, gain experience across events and daily programs, and benefit from

As a Catering Assistant, you help create a positive experience for the many people who visit our venues each day. With astrong focus on customer service, you prepare and serve food and beverages, set up kiosks and catering areas, process customer sales, answer enquiries and help keep refreshment areas clean, safe and welcoming. You work as part of the catering team to support daily programs, activities and events across our facilities.

You work in a busy, high-volume environment with more than 1 million visits each year. During peak periods, you prepare food, restock products, rotate stock, check deliveries, complete catering administration and operate point of sale and cash handling systems. You clean tables, empty bins, maintain food safety and hygiene standards, and ensure kitchen and servery equipment is set up, used and stored correctly.

Every interaction makes a difference. Your work helps customers enjoy a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment while supporting the smooth operation of the centre. You work closely with colleagues, follow established procedures and contribute to high standards of customer service and food safety.

This casual role requires flexibility to work 3 to 7-hour shifts across the following operating hours:

• Weekdays: 8.30 am to 7.30 pm
• Commitment to working at least one weekend shift each week.
