Job summary

St Basil’s Homes SA in Christie Downs seeks a skilled Catering Assistant to join our not-for-profit kitchen team on a casual basis. You’ll assist with basic food preparation, plating and service, while upholding high standards of hygiene and food safety.

The role requires a minimum of 2 years’ experience, strong teamwork, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Salary sacrifice benefits up to $15,899 are available.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Understanding of safe food handling practices.
• Knowledge of dietary requirements in aged care.
• Experience in a commercial kitchen or aged care setting (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Assist with basic food preparation under the direction of the Chef.
• Support meal plating and service to residents.
• Maintain a clean, hygienic kitchen.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely.
• Wash dishes, utensils, and equipment.
• Follow food safety, infection control, and aged-care standards.
• Collaborate with the catering team for daily operations.
