Job summary

BlueScope is seeking an experienced Category Manager, Logistics to join the Procurement Logistics team based in Port Kembla NSW. You will lead the development, negotiation and management of major logistics contracts across BlueScope Australian businesses.

Reporting to the Manager Procurement and Contracts, Logistics, you will provide strategic logistics advice, drive improvements, and manage important supplier relationships spanning multiple business units, with a focus on road transport

Qualifications

• Experience within logistics and/or supply chain.
• Experience developing, negotiating, implementing and managing supplier contracts.
• Understanding of key logistics cost drivers.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement category strategies for significant existing and future logistics activities.
• Lead supplier negotiations and sourcing activities aligned with BlueScope business plans and logistics category strategies.
• Partner with Operations, Finance, Legal, Procurement and other stakeholders to identify improvement opportunities and best total-cost solutions.
• Govern major logistics contracts and supplier relationships, ensuring continuity of service, effective risk management and sustainable value.
• Lead the implementation of new logistics services agreements and associated business changes.
• Manage supplier performance from both strategic and tactical perspectives.
• Manage formal contract reviews and drive continuous improvement, cost management and innovation.

BlueScope is seeking an experienced Category Manager, Logistics to join the Procurement Logistics team based in Port Kembla NSW. Help lead the development, negotiation and management of significant logistics contracts across our Australian businesses.

Reporting to the Manager Procurement and Contracts, Logistics, you will provide strategic logistics advice, lead improvement initiatives, negotiate logistics services, and manage major supplier relationships and contracts spanning multiple BlueScope business units. The role has influence over a portfolio of logistics contracts with significant annual spend predominantly covering road transport services.

This is an opportunity to shape logistics category strategies, deliver sustainable commercial value and work closely with senior internal stakeholders and key external suppliers.

What will you do?

In this influential role, you will:

• develop and implement category strategies for significant existing and future logistics activities
• lead supplier negotiations and sourcing activities aligned with BlueScope business plans and logistics category strategies
• partner with Operations, Finance, Legal, Procurement and other stakeholders to identify improvement opportunities and the best total-cost solutions
• govern major logistics contracts and supplier relationships, ensuring continuity of service, effective risk management and sustainable value
• lead the implementation of new logistics services agreements and associated business changes
• manage supplier performance from both strategic and tactical perspectives
• manage formal contract reviews and drive continuous improvement, cost management and innovation

More about you

You will bring:

• experience within logistics and/or supply chain (preferably road logistics)
• demonstrated experience developing, negotiating, implementing and managing supplier contracts
• an understanding of key logistics cost drivers
• the ability to engage with executive management and deliver outcomes through others
• highly developed stakeholder-management, influencing and negotiation skills
• strong commercial and business acumen
• the ability to plan, prioritise and manage multiple activities while maintaining attention to detail
• a collaborative approach and the ability to build strong relationships across internal and external networks.

A tertiary qualification in Supply Chain and Logistics, Engineering, Commerce, Business or another relevant discipline will be highly regarded. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, together with the ability to achieve timely outcomes through collaboration, will also support your success in the role.
