Job summary

Ambition Group in Australia is seeking an experienced Category Manager to own category strategy, range reviews, and shelf-space recommendations for major retail accounts. You will translate raw scan data into compelling commercial insights and build data-driven decks to influence decisions across Sales, Marketing, and Procurement.

In this in-office role, you will collaborate across functions, present recommendations to executives, and drive NPD go-to-market plans while maintaining sharp

Qualifications

• Experience in category management or retail buying within FMCG
• Proficient with scan data platforms and advanced Excel modeling
• Strong commercial acumen with experience presenting range reviews and space management
• Self-starter capable of end-to-end data analysis and deck creation

Responsibilities

• Lead category reviews, range rationalisation, and shelf-space recommendations for major retail accounts.
• Analyse raw portal data and syndicated scan data (Aztec, Circana/IRI, NielsenIQ, Quantium).
• Build data-driven PowerPoint decks, Power BI dashboards, and advanced Excel models (VLOOKUPs, data cleansing).
• Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, and Procurement to validate pricing, commercial feasibility, and go-to-market plans for NPD launches.
• Deliver actionable performance scorecards directly to executive leadership.

The Business

A well-established, market-leading importer, manufacturer, and distributor of high-growth food and beverage brands, supplying major supermarket chains, wholesale networks, and independent grocers across Australia and New Zealand.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the CCO in an autonomous, high-visibility role, you will take full ownership of category strategy, range reviews, and retail presentations across Australia's biggest FMCG busineses. You will turn raw scan data into compelling commercial recommendations to defend and grow shelf presence.

What you'll do

• Lead category reviews, range rationalisation, and shelf-space recommendations for major retail accounts.
• Analyse raw portal data and syndicated scan data (Aztec, Circana/IRI, NielsenIQ, Quantium).
