Job description

Don’t settle for ordinary – we welcome those on the hunt for more! At Lion, we believe that life is short and working in Category just feels different when you sit at the heart of human connection and good times. So put a spark back in your day, working in an exciting industry as unique as you and with outstanding brands that those around you know and love like: Hahn, Stone & Wood, Kirin and Tooheys!

We are currently recruiting for a Category Manager to join our Category Strategy Team reporting directly to our Head of Category on a full-time, permanent basis. The role is hybrid, based at our Sydney CBD office with the flexibility to work from home 2 days a week.

This role will lead the analysis and insights development for our beer brands (Guinness, XXXX, James Squire, Boags to name just a few!) and support the creation of the Category Growth Plan for Retail channels in Australia, leading the development and execution of key initiatives.

A day in the life
  • Support the development of the Category three-year Strategy for our Beer across Off-Premise Retail customers
  • Drive the annual commercial partnership and lead our customer range review process ensuring it is aligned to the market business strategy and delivers on identified channel, category and customer opportunities.
  • Manage category and customer insight reporting, including roll-out and capability for primary stakeholders (Marketing, Shopper, Sales and Commercial)
  • Create, execute and review initiatives to bring the Category and Customer strategy to market
  • Support the identification, commercialisation and prioritisation of marketplace opportunities including considerations for brands, innovation, customer, and revenue management, leading the range review process with our partners
  • Partner with our Beer Marketing Team to ensure their brand plans are supported by fact-led insight and our Category and Customer strategy
What You Will Need On Day One
  • Strong analytical and commercial capability with expertise across data analytics tools (AFO, PowerBI, IRi/Circana, Nielsen, Synergy, Hybrid, Excel)
  • Skills in understanding category and shopper insights, translating these into a story to take to our key customers
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to form trusting relationships with our key customers
  • Excellent collaboration skills; work within a team to achieve common goals and be able to work with other teams and business functions
  • A background in FMCG and/or Category would be an advantage
