Job summary

Metcash is seeking a Category Coordinator to support key category initiatives across a high-impact portfolio within Metcash Food. You will partner with the Category Manager to assist with range reviews, pricing, promotions, and supplier coordination in a fast-paced environment.

You will help deliver retail sales outcomes, manage day-to-day category operations, sourcing, costing, and promotions, and oversee category documentation and MDG processes.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial acumen driving category success.
• Experience in Retail and/or FMCG environments.
• Knowledge of Category Management principles, including the 4Ps and Shopper Insights.
• Analytical capability with Excel; exposure to Power BI, CRMs/planning tools and Circana.

Responsibilities

• Support the Category Manager in delivering retail sales and income budgets, identifying opportunities to improve COGS and category performance.
• Assist with day-to-day category operations, including sourcing, pricing, promotions, costing, and supplier management activities.
• Manage category promotional activity through MetProms, ensuring accuracy and timely execution.
• Review and process category documentation via the MDG process in line with timelines, including promotions, new lines, pricing changes, supplier updates, and product amendments.
• Analyse sales and income performance, providing insights on suppliers and competitor activity to support opportunities for Metcash and Retailers.

About The Opportunity

In this Role

• Support the Category Manager in delivering retail sales and income budgets, identifying opportunities to improve COGS and overall category performance
• Assist with day-to-day category operations, including sourcing, pricing, promotions, costing, and supplier management activities

You're Likely a Match If

• Strong commercial acumen, with a clear understanding of how it drives success within Category Management
• Experience in, or a strong understanding of, Retail and/or FMCG environments
• Sound knowledge of Category Management principles, including the 4Ps and Shopper Insights
• Strong analytical capability, with experience using Excel and exposure to tools such as Power BI, CRMs/planning tools, and Circana (or similar industry platforms)
• Customer-focused and collaborative, with the ability to work effectively across teams and influence internal and external stakeholders within a matrix environment
