Job summary

Berry Street Yooralla is seeking casual Youth Development Workers for the Education First Youth Foyer in Shepparton. You will coach, mentor and support young people to build independence, life skills and community connections.

The role focuses on facilitation of health and wellbeing coaching, plus Certificate 1 Developing Independence delivery. You will work within a strengths-based, trauma-informed framework to support learning, resilience and meaningful participation in education and

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people, particularly those experiencing disadvantage or housing instability.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Commitment to strengths-based, trauma-informed and person-centred practice.
• Experience working both independently and as part of a team.
• Understanding of youth development, education pathways and community engagement.

Responsibilities

• Support the daily operations of the Youth Foyer program.
• Build positive, professional relationships with young people and provide mentoring, coaching and practical support.
• Encourage participation in education, training, employment and community opportunities.
• Promote open talent and advantaged thinking in daily practice.
• Maintain a safe and supportive living environment.
• Help young people develop life skills, confidence and independence.
• Contribute to group activities, workshops and community engagement.
• Complete case notes, reports and other administrative requirements.
• Respond to critical incidents in consultation with leadership.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
