Job summary

Enabling Pathways Community is seeking experienced Youth Workers in Mackay to support young people facing trauma, abuse or neglect. You will deliver therapeutic interventions and cultural enrichment programs within a nurturing environment.

We provide training opportunities, including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Foundation training, plus a supportive management and on-call after-hours team for all youth workers.

Qualifications

• 6–8 months of experience in youth work or a related field.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with clients, families and professionals.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Cultural awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and CALD backgrounds.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed therapeutic care for young people.

Responsibilities

• Provide personalised support to children and young people within the community and in placement.
• Apply care plans to day-to-day tasks.
• Guide young people toward positive life choices.
• Perform general household duties as needed.
• Deliver therapeutic care as part of the care team.
• Report incidents to supervisors and after-hours coordinators promptly.
• Complete shift documentation (shift reports, incident and WHS reports).
• Manage client files and related administration.
• Attend required training and meetings.
• Support a safe, inclusive environment in line with policies and child protection standards.
