Job summary

The Gordon in Victoria is seeking experienced plumbing professionals to inspire the next generation by transitioning into casual teaching. You will pass on practical knowledge, guide learners and stay connected to the industry, while enjoying flexible teaching opportunities.

You'll deliver classroom, workshop and practical sessions, assess progress, support apprentices and contribute to course development within a supportive Plumbing team.

Qualifications

• Four years of plumbing industry experience.
• Broad plumbing knowledge with mechanical plumbing experience is valued.
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) or working towards it.
• Current VBA Plumbing Registration.
• Strong communication and collaborative approach with students and staff.

About the Role

You'll work with students at different stages of their learning journey, helping them develop practical skills, industry knowledge and confidence for successful careers in plumbing.

As part of our supportive Plumbing team, you'll be welcomed, guided through our processes and set up for success from day one.

Key responsibilities include:

• Deliver engaging classroom, workshop and practical training sessions
• Assess student learning and provide constructive feedback
• Support apprentices and students to achieve industry relevant outcomes
• Contribute to course development and continuous improvement activities
• Build strong connections with industry to ensure training remains current and relevant

This is a casual teaching opportunity designed to support our Plumbing team when additional teaching coverage is needed. You'll primarily step in to cover planned absences, leave and sick days, helping ensure our students continue to receive a high quality learning experience. As with many casual opportunities, some shifts may arise with very little notice, so flexibility and adaptability will be highly valued.

If you enjoy mentoring others, sharing your expertise and helping people achieve their goals, you'll find plenty of purpose in this role.

About You

You're an experienced plumbing professional who enjoys helping others learn and succeed. You bring strong industry knowledge and a practical mindset.

You'll have:

• A minimum of four years' plumbing industry experience
• Broad plumbing knowledge, with mechanical plumbing experience highly regarded
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) or be actively working towards it
• A current VBA Plumbing Registration
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with students and colleagues

What’s next? Salary Range:

Casual Teacher L1 | $91.42 (teaching) and $62.14 (non-teaching) per hour | AQF4 teaching qualification

Casual Teacher L2 | $95.01 (teaching) and $64.58 (non-teaching) per hour | AQF5 teaching qualification

Casual Teacher L3 | $98.77 (teaching) and $67.10 (non-teaching) per hour | AQF6+ teaching qualification
