Job summary

NSW Department of Education – Singleton NSW is recruiting for a casual Cleaner to join a dedicated team providing high-standard cleaning services across schools and government sites in the Upper and Middle Hunter Valley region.

You will perform sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, sanitising restrooms and classrooms, and support with deep cleans and programmed tasks. The role requires reliable teamwork, attention to hygiene, and adherence to WHS standards.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of safe cleaning practices and WHS requirements.
• Experience using cleaning equipment and chemicals.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to hygiene.
• Ability to follow schedules and meet service standards.
• Demonstrated basic English language skills, including reading, writing, and verbal communication.
• Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.

Responsibilities

• Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and general cleaning duties.
• Sanitising restrooms, classrooms, offices, and shared spaces.
• Following cleaning schedules and procedures.
• Safely using cleaning equipment and chemicals.
• Reporting hazards, maintenance issues, and supply needs.
• Assisting with deep cleans, programmed works, and special tasks.
