Job summary

IFYS in Rockhampton is seeking Casual Residential Youth Workers to provide a safe, therapeutic living environment for children and young people in Residential Care houses. You will help manage behaviours, plan activities, and support life-skill development through daily routines and structured activities.

The role requires a valid Blue Card, a QLD driver’s licence, two references, and a Certificate IV or higher in a relevant field, with availability across day/evening/shifts.

Qualifications

• Blue Card (Queensland Working with Children) required.
• QLD driver's license with no restrictions.
• Two professional references from recent employers.
• Certificate IV or higher in a relevant field.
• Availability for varied day/evening/shifts on a fortnight roster.
• History screenings including LCS2 and National Crime Check.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe and therapeutic environment for young people to grow and learn.
• Support and manage young people’s complex and challenging behaviours in a consistent and calm manner.
• Build rapport and remain non-judgmental whilst maintaining professional boundaries.
• Plan individual and group activities to meet the young people’s needs and goals in line with Case Plans.
• Use daily routines to provide hands on training of life skills such as cooking, budgeting, and personal care.
• Timely and accurate completion of administrative duties including petty cash, case notes, and incident reports.
• Transport clients to school, work, appointments and other commitments.
