Job summary

Gateway Health's Wangaratta Alcohol and Other Drug Residential Treatment Service is seeking a Residential Support Worker to support residents within the Therapeutic Community. You will liaise with residents and staff, assist in TC processes, and help establish healthier lifestyles free of alcohol and drug use.

Working within the Therapeutic Community framework, you will model appropriate behaviour, foster peer-support, and deliver communications that reflect harm-reduction principles; casual

Qualifications

• Qualification such as certificate IV in AOD or equivalent, or willingness to undertake within the first 12 months of employment.
• Ability to resolve conflict and work with clients who have challenging behaviours.
• Extensive experience in substance misuse, mental health, health, or community services. (People with lived experience are encouraged to apply)
• The ability to work weekends and overnight shifts is a must!

Responsibilities

• Assist in day-to-day operations of the Wangaratta Therapeutic Community to foster safe, therapeutic relationships.
• Support residents in treatment to establish healthier lifestyles free of problematic alcohol and drug use.
• Model behaviours within the Therapeutic Community framework to maximise positive peer influence.
