Job summary

Far West Local Health District in Balranald NSW is recruiting a casual Registered Nurse to join a modern hospital near the Murrumbidgee river. The role offers $41.23–$57.88 per hour plus superannuation and access to a NSW Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme up to $10,000.

You will work within a supportive, multi-disciplinary team, with opportunities for professional development and living in a peaceful rural community. Applications close 2026-09-28.

Qualifications

• Current nursing/midwifery registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
• Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field to position or willingness to undertake.
• Recent remote and Emergency Department clinical experience, including current Advanced Life Support Accreditation.

• Work in one of the Far West LHD's newer, modern facilities in a beautiful location 100 metres from the Murrumbidgee river
• Join a supportive, multi-disciplinary healthcare team who are very welcoming and embrace all newcomers to the hospital family
• Develop your skills & progress your career working across a wide stream of specialties in a smaller, rural hospital
• A doctor is never far away with a co-located GP practice
• Excellent training and education opportunities to advance your nursing skills

Job description

This position qualifies for an annual Recruitment Incentive Package up to the value of $10,000 (conditions apply and may be pro-rata’d to your contracted or ordinary working hours, these payments are paid on a fortnightly basis) under the NSW Health Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme.

This scheme recognises the role key health workers play in enabling the delivery of rural and remote health services, and aims to provide incentives over and above award entitlements, to attract and retain staff in these areas.

About Balranald

Balranald is a beautiful rural town on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River. It has a friendly atmosphere with great venues for barista coffee, a well renowned bakery and discovery centre. A short drive takes you to the scenic larger town of Swan Hill for shopping, a great swimming pool and art centre. Balranald offers amazing food at the local RSL and to die for take away Pizza. Requirements

• Current nursing/midwifery registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with postgraduate qualification in relevant field to position or willingness to undertake.
• Recent remote and Emergency Department clinical experience, including current Advanced Life Support Accreditation.
• Demonstrated application of professional and ethical boundaries to the delivery of patient care in the context of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Demonstrated application of evidence based practice and critical thinking to advocate for and implement individualised person centred care patient care.
• Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise.
• Demonstrated commitment to work and partner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait, Islander patients and families and employees to enhance health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
• Evidence of participation in own professional development and commitment to maintaining competence and enhancement of skills, and willingness to apply and share professional expertise with colleagues.
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills within a multidisciplinary team.
