Job summary

Southern Meat Co in Lalor, VIC is seeking an Experienced Qualified Butcher to join on a casual basis. You will prepare, cut and process meat products, operate equipment safely and assist customers in a busy retail environment.

The role requires current butcher qualifications, knife skills and knowledge of meat cuts, plus strong hygeine and food safety practices. Casual hours provide flexibility while supporting a professional team.

Qualifications

• Current butchery qualifications and relevant industry certifications.
• Proven experience working as a qualified butcher in a retail or commercial butchery environment.
• Excellent knife skills and knowledge of different cuts and meat preparation techniques.
• Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene standards and relevant legislation.
• Ability to operate butchery equipment safely and competently.
• Strong customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanour.
• Attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality products.
• Reliability and flexibility to work on a casual basis as required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Preferred Languages Italian, Greek and Macedonian, but not Essential.

Responsibilities

• Preparing, cutting, and processing meat products to the highest standards of quality and presentation
• Operating butchery equipment safely and maintaining all tools and machinery in optimal working condition
• Maintaining strict hygiene and food safety standards in accordance with industry regulations and company policies
• Assisting customers with product selection, recommendations and special orders
• Pricing and packaging meat products accurately and efficiently
• Contributing to a clean and well-organised work environment
• Assisting with stock rotation and inventory management
• Supporting the team to deliver excellent customer service at all times
